Belgium soccer franchise Club Brugge announced Monday that Canadian striker Cyle Larin is joining the team on a free transfer.
It is being reported by soccer insider Fabrizio Romano that Larin made the decision to join the club after also receiving offers from teams in Mexico and Greece.
This will be Larin’s 3rd team in 4 years. In 2019, the striker played for Orlando City SC, then was loaned out to Belgium’s Zulte Waregem for the 2019-20 season. Larin has spent the past two seasons with Besiktas of the Turkish league.
Larin A Big Factor For Team Canada
The forward is an instrumental piece to the Canadian Men’s National Team. Against the U.S. in World Cup qualifying in Hamilton, ON, he scored the opening goal which set a Canadian team record for most international goals by a player with 23. The Red & Whites went on to defeat the Americans 2-0 that day and then went on to capture the CONCACAF group which automatically sent them to the 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar.
The 27-year-old Larin buried 39 goals in 109 games with Besiktas, which included a goal in a Champions League contest.
